Collection of my old Habbo Rooms

Image
Since Pixelated Soundwaves, a Habbo-based project, is releasing soon, I wanted to use this opportunity to share some old screenshots I still had lingering around from the time I actively played Habbo. I highly enjoyed building rooms inside of the hotel and always took screenshots of rooms once I finished them for later reference and archive purposes.  I often built different types of carnival rides such as high speed merry go rounds, rollercoasters, skydivers and haunted houses with Habbo rollers (rolling platforms that can move Habbo’s and furnis) and in more recent years also with Wired (various furni that once combined allow you to create automatic processes inside of the hotel, like activating lights by stating a code word, or opening doors by double clicking on a specific tile, or removing a Habbo from a room when he or she walks on a specific tile, or transport a Habbo somewhere else in the room after stating a secret password etc). Besides carnival rides I liked to build a v...

September Update

Image
Quick update just in time for the weekend! Production for ARENA has been completed and I've moved on onto the post-production process. A rough edit for the film has been completed. Instead of 45-75 minutes, the final runtime of ARENA will be approximately 33-40 minutes with credits included. I had initially calculated a general time span of the film based upon the amount of shots per map made and their respective length. I wanted to create sections with extremely long shots, but during post I found out how redundant and boring these shots actually were. They did not add a lot to the film as a whole and I figured that even audio would most likely not be able to fix this issue. That is why a lot of shots had to be cut to a shorter length in order to keep the film digestible and interesting. A number of shots from certain maps could also not be used  (some looked the same as shots from other maps, or did not fit my vision on the film anymore) and were removed from the film in th...

Instagib at Q3DM17

Image
While in the process of offline editing ARENA and custom mapping things for the film I came across a couple of demo's. One of them was from a instagib match with bots I recorded around two years ago. I was a bit on a spree. I decided to render it with Q3MME on 2K Scope, add a bit of post in it and decided to release it on YouTube. Rendering with MME took around 22-24 hours.

August Update!

Image
Production for ARENA is at 90%. Only 30 more maps need to be captured and I hope to finish up production at the end of this week with a bit of a buffer towards the beginning of next week. I will start the mapping process later this week, and hope to finish mapping, recording and capturing during the fall of this year.  I can give a release indication for ARENA with 95% certainty: november-december 2022. A couple of maps had to be cancelled from the film due to lack of compatibility with Q3MME. Some maps crashed and some were in an unworkable state while inside the mod. My most educated guess right now is that ARENA went from approximately 204 maps to around 175. As stated before, runtime remains most likely around 45-75 minutes. ARENA's aim is still to become my very first feature film. Music will also be composed by me after editing is complete using Ableton Live. The film will be released on 2K SCOPE (2048x858) resolution, as 4K remains technically not possible with my current s...

ARENA - An update

Image
Production is 67% done. All demo's have been recorded. Demo/footage capturing has been completed up to 120/203 maps. This week I hope to finish capping another 20 maps. I'm aiming to finish production of the demo capturing process somewhere in July and to start production on the custom maps afterwards. By then, production would then have taken four full months. There will be 3 custom maps. I am still thinking about what these maps should contain. One of the maps will be used as background footage during the credit roll. The other two are used within the film itself. My aim is to start post-production of ARENA during fall 2022. The idea is to release it before the end of the 2022. Expected runtime has been scaled down from 90 minutes to between 45 and 75 minutes. I will try to compose my own music for this film with my trusty new Novation Launchpad X. Emphasis is placed on 'try' because I have the musical capacity of a green pea. okbye. Here are some raw shots from capt...
