Release: IGNIIITION (2021)

This post marks the release of ‘IGNIIITION’, a one-minute Quake III Machinima that showcases an experimental representation of a 1-vs-1 duel. This project expands on my on-going ideas and experiments behind the ‘further implementation of Quake III gameplay’ and ‘use of Quake III depth of field maps’. The film represents three protagonists (two fighters and the map itself) within a single level, filmed from a multitude of angles and viewpoints and aims to highlight the ‘Tournament/1-vs-1’ game mode found within Quake III. Depth of Field maps make their return once again in IGNIIITION. After serving a main purpose as film footage within DEPTHMAP and DEPTHMAP NEXT respectively, the depthmaps serve an aesthetic role this time as they have been applied within the color grade.
