Looking back at 2021

I'm a bit early this year. I would like to thank my never ending workload, my never ending thirst for caffeine, and my never sleeping brain who is storming (get it.. brainstorming lol) every minute of the day for that. Was it me, or was this year even more mind numbing, morale crushing and slower than the previous one?

Now. Machinima-wise. I am extremely excited to see what the new year will bring. I don't really want to use a lot of words for this, but trust me, stuff is always in the works. I'm currently exploring ways in Grand Theft Auto IV for machinima. Does it have something to do with the metro screenshots I posted earlier, or is there a new Regression in the works? I would love to say both, but it highly depends on time and my computers mood and my creative flow. I'm always trying to push my boundaries and creative limits. This is why I will only release something once I believe it is ready. One thing is for sure, Regression will continue in the future, and the runtime will drastically increase (30 to 60 min). Furthermore, there will be a higher emphasis on a documentary type style, so less focus on music and more focus on ambience.

I'm also exploring ways for machinima creation in many other videogames, as I want to focus a bit more on diversity starting next year. On the other hand, I still have a lot of ideas for Quake III Arena, but I also miss Grand Theft Auto V a lot. I haven't played since completing Regression III in early 2020.  Anyway, the year has officially not ended yet and I am still wrapping up things for this year. There is maybe, probably, most likely, one more thing on the horizon for this year, which is a bit dependable on external factors. Just casually dropping this here.

Now, the look back at 2021. I want to thank each and everyone of you who has collaborated with me, or helped me to spread my work to the public. I cannot stress enough how thankful I am. Thank you!!! Each and everyone of you are awesome. Keep on rocking.

What happened this year? Well. IGNIIITION was featured at Game Junction in Khodynka Gallery in Moscow; a exhibition that focused on game art and interactive game art. Three films (Depthmap, Pixelation and Regression 3) were featured in Nottingham (United Kingdom) during this year's edition of PRESS START. Lastly, the regression-trilogy and train drive were shown for audiences at the 'Jazz is a Videogame' performance during this year's Roma Jazz Festival in Rome, Italy. The soundtrack was re imagined by musicians and performed live alongside a 8 minute edit of all films on a big screen in front of a large audience. And last, but certainly not least, my interview with MMF was featured in VRAL Season 1 by Concrete Press. In conclusion, 2021 has been a very fruitful year. Cheers to more good stuff in 2022!

To everyone who reads this, I wish you a happy holiday season, a merry christmas and a happy and healthy 2022. Keep doing what you're doing and stay awesome. More awesome things are on the horizon.
